Don't Call Me Yellow....

Passed my first Karate exam today and progressed to Yellow Belt - second lowest belt but you have to start somewhere.
Apparently it's not a time to celebrate but to reflect .......... I'll catch my reflection in a beer bottle tonight.

Little Things Please Little Minds

I've been collecting bread tags for about 10 years now and have amassed quite a few ( With the help of associates around the world who collect for me , thanks Margaret & Steven ).
Yesterday while opening a loaf of Cinnabon Cinnamon bread I found a grey tag and got mildly excited as I've never seen one before.
This is my 'vida loco'.

GO Hawks !!

As you know I'm not a sports fan , it's futile tomfoolery.
Americans are crazy about this game they call 'football' . Why it's called football I don't know, about 1% of the game is someone coming into contact with a ball using their foot.
The other 99% is just a bunch of meatheads bashing into each other at the whim of a 60 year old with a headset in between commercial breaks. Nonsense .

The Overweight Lover

RIP Heavy D .
I know it's unhealthy being rotund but he was only 44.

Hallowe'en

Some pics - more to follow.

In my opinion not the best but here was First Prize for Costume :

Now Then , Now Then , Now Then.............

A legend . RIP Mr Saville. I used to scheme on what was the biggest Fix It he could do for me , but he never did Fix it for me and now he never will.

Dead Bird

Saw a dead bird outside our house this morning ( is that bad juju or something ? ) and promised my son I would bury it when I was back from dropping him off at the school bus.
Came back 5 minutes later to see the crows had other plans:

Cabin Fever

Spent the weekend up at Snoqualmie Pass.
All was good apart from the mice in the cabin - I hate mice.

Jobs a good 'un

Back in Early Feb Popla released a Steve jobs RIP TEE - and actually managed to sell one. Still have a few left if anyone's interested ?
One of the reasons I loved Steve Jobs is that here was one of the world's top CEO's who spent his youth droppin' out of college and droppin' acid .
I think it showed ( in the best way ).

Melt Banana

The One thing you can be sure of living in different cities around the world is Melt Banana are going to turn up to play a gig there at some point. I've seen them in London ( 1998 ) , Amsterdam ( 2003 ) , Portland OR ( 2005 ).
Lasts nights Seattle gig was definitely their rowdiest I have been to - all those North Westerners slamming , stage diving and having a grand old time - Hardcore.
The one thing I noticed as hardcore as these folks were they nearly all wore earplugs ( not ear lobe plugs but the things you protect your ears with ) .This is a new one on me - as my ears are still ringing it's a trend I'm going to adopt.

From Russia With Love

Yesterday my friend Brun over at Swayzak sent me this photo from Moscow.

He was doing a gig there when a fan told him he was going to go out and paint a Swayzak tribute graff piece.

And next day there it was running on the Moscow rail network - a Swayz whole car !

Love the cat .Props to Eugene . Mental

What's on your list today ?......

A new T-Shit that's what.
Seeing as I haven't sold any tees online at all - yes AT ALL it's time to buy buy buy !
My wife has enough of my tomfoolery - keeps talking about ' paid work ' , ' being responsible' and 'useless' piles of T-shirts 'cluttering up the house'.
Apart from a cash in hand deal for a Steve Jobs RIP from my boy in PDX I have not sold one bastard thing on this world wide website.
I'm not naive - i know it's because my tees aren't really what people want to wear, let alone shell out good money for.
With that in mind I figure why not do tees that no-one would ever even dream of wearing.
So here it is - the unofficial Fred Meyer Uniform !
I love Fred Meyer , even the Loco Lake City store but because none of you trendsetters buy anything off me I'm now shopping at Grocery Outlet Bargain Market buying generic cereals.
An artist reduced to the state of a bum.

Fairs Fair ?

I've always hated fairs.
They used to turn up once a year on Putney Common and the burglary rates would soar as the pikeys did what pikeys do when they'd finished robbing in broad daylight ( 50p a go on the waltzers ).
Why I thought a visit to The Puyallup Fair would somehow change a lifetime's aversion to these "fun' fairs is beyond me.
The Puyallup fair is supposed to be a Pacific Northwest institution.
I think the first photo sums it all up:

Well why on earth did you go there Popla ? I hear you cry .
Good point.
This is the reason why :

Weird Al

The last time I saw Weird Al Yankovic live was in 2004 and I remember thinking there was a load of kids at that gig so it's only right I schlepped 40 miles down to Puyallup with my own six years later to see him again.
I love Weird Al ! I know pop satire can be a bit of an easy target but Mr Yankovic is such a keen observer of the insanity of life I can't help but like him.
He's a bit of a Dorian Grey figure too - in between songs while he was getting changed he ran self referencing clips from various sitcoms / quiz/talk shows commercials and films , some of which dated back more than I'd care to remember yet he looks younger than he did in the 80's
Sorry the photos are lame - you should have been there.

Never really wanted one of the devils dawdles myself but maybe the one at 1.08 is tempting me.
