Patrick Moore 1923-2012

Sad to hear of the passing of Patrick Moore today .

I used to love The Sky at Night even though I didn't understand a word of it.

He was The Don .

Twinkies Vs. Dreamies

I'm sure all my US blog fans know of the recent demise of a much loved cake baker , Hostess , and their jewel in the crown product Twinkies.

I'm sure Twinkie The Kid will ride again but in the meantime Mrs. Freshley ( not her real name I'd wager ) has stepped up to the plate and cooked us up some Dreamies.

Firstly the box design isn't quite as good ( no character ) but the white dollop of poo in the 'i' saves it from oblivion , I can forgive the lower case 'd' but they are about 10 years late to that party.

Moving onto the cake itself , not a bad effort Mrs. Freshley !

The sponge was nice and firm but still moist & fluffy,  it was slightly more robust than a Twinkie .At a glance you couldn't tell them apart.

The 'creme' filling was a little too thick and granular for my taste , it lacked the airiness that Hostess delivered .

I can live with Dreamies until Someone buys the Twinkie brand and tells Mrs Freshley to cease baking but we need a character Mrs. - any suggestions ?

Popla1000 X Carhartt MK II

As you know Popla is a big fan of the Carhartt double front Carpenter Pant , been wearing them $#i†ß since 1990 son. Check out my earlier pair I doctored here .

These pair are Calico painters version with white screen printed reinforcements, lovely.

They were quite a hassle to print and sew so I am not planning any production ( each image featured was hand screened individually , took me a week )

Googly Kurt

Big shout out to Archie McPhee and their site Celebrity Googly Eyes , they inspired me to doctor a pre printed tee I picked up in a goth store in Edinburgh . My son says it's an insult to Mr Cobain but I think not.

I'm a mess

This Tee started out as a bit of a screen test sample ,then I got it to a point where I actually quite liked it .

4 colour screenprint , vinyl transfer and hand airbrushed acrylic on 50/50 cotton poly .

Orbital

Thanks to Orbital for coming to Seattle's Paramount Theatre last week. Hadn't seen them since I copped a whitey Glastonbury 1999 . They now have LED headlamps but other that that they are still as dope as ever. A great show.

iPhonery

Apple have done it again , and again and again . I am a Mac user and even own an iPhone and was thinking up until yesterday I will get the new iPhone 5 when it comes out.

But now I think I won't.

It just seems every six months old earnest Jonathan Ive is fanfaring some new "amazing" phone product and we just lap it and cast our 'old' one aside . 

They are a business and need to make money but their greed seems to be growing faster than their creativity that helped them get where they are today.

I'm not anti Mac ( have you tried using Windows ??) but just feel it's all going a bit off kilter.

Spent a few days down at Loveland Farm , Harland , UK as guests of the Griffins in their new

dome . It was pretty darn rad - I want one .

Skrillex / Pukka Visuals

Went to see Skrillex headlining Seattle's Bumbershoot festival recentley . This was not by choice but by parental responsibility.

Anyway It was quite good fun - took me back to 89 and warehouse raving - not much different really , maybe the lasers have got better ?
