Hello Linus

It feels like this blog is turning into an obituary column , but hark ! New humans take their place.
Congratulations to Amsterdam's premium retailer Ido on the birth of his son , Linus.

I can see straight through you because I'm the G.U.R.U.

Another Friday , another somebody dead.
Always been a fan of Gangstarr , sad to hear that Guru died the other day.
"Lemonade was a popular drink / and it still is / I get more props and stunts than Bruce Willis"
Not his finest hour in rhyme but every line was a classic.

Volcan-oh !

Sitting at home when I should be jetting across the Atlantic ocean.
This whole business is another good reminder of our ever increasingly off balance world.
It's not our birthright to fly wherever we want whenever we want , Mother Nature runs the show.

The Only Notes That Really Count.....

....Are The Ones That Come in Wads.
I was saddened to hear this morning that Malcom McLaren had met his maker.
While I was slightly too young to be into The Sex Pistols in their heyday , I was 14 when I first clocked the video for Buffalo Galsand that was it. Life Changing.
He is one of the few people I have ever felt truly inspired by.
When I worked at Jean Charles De Castelbajac in the mid 90's I was one afternoon summoned to his office to show what I had been working on. Upon entering his office I did a double (dutch) take as I saw Mr McLaren sitting there , I then rather nervously presented my designs to them both. I would love to say he liked them but he didn't , at least said why he didn't like them.

Do ya like scratching ?
Yes I do.

XO

They say you either love it or hate it ( but I think that's true of most things). If you love it, check out Marmite X O , it was not as extreme as I'd hoped but was much better than that dreadful 'champagne' version they did a while back , which tasted like something had pissed in it.

Tour De Barnes 1979

The Brick

Whilst in London I met up with my old friend Zaki , of The Chrome Angels fame .
None of that poncy London bar scene for us - we went to his local in Putney, The Bricklayer's Arms , which in the last few years has become a fine hostelry and sank a few pints of Timothy Taylor's Ram Tam and some of The Brick's own Celebrattion Ale (sic) which at two quid a pint was not to be sniffed at. We need to support independent brewers and pubs , and while we are at it drink some proper beer.
Keep an eye out for a TCA show sometime soon.
